Honda CBR 600 F3 comes home

by fasterlaster on Jul.01, 2010, under Sport Bikes

For years I’ve been able to resist the call of another motorcycle because of the Triumph that needs some TLC. Well a few weeks ago I brought that Triumph back from TN and boy what a project. Combine that with my neighbor who was telling me that the market value for mid/late 90s CBRs are pretty low and sprinkle in a bit of Craigslist. Bake for a few days and you end up with a new to me 1995 CBR 600 F3. I headed up to Longmont with Steph and took a look at the bike. Pretty decent, and it appears to have never been laid over. There is tail fairing damage according to the P/O was from transporting it with a pickup. Took it for a spin and was hooked again.
Made a slightly lower offer and exchanged cash for the title and we were off. Now since I haven’t ridden in years I don’t have a helmet. I like the fact that CO doesn’t make adults have to wear helmets, but I prefer to wear one. So I made a stop by a dealer in Longmont and found a Scorpion helmet that fit well. Finally I got on the road and headed back south to Parker. Steph followed me in the Suburban and soon I was back at work. I had to stay there since I was working that night so some more riding had to be delayed. Either way I am now the new owner of a very quick and fun sport bike.

New home of fasterlaster.com

by fasterlaster on May.16, 2010, under Geek

After years of running on a linode node I made the move to another host at the house. The advantage is I get a better internet pipe at home, and better performance as I own the entire host, not just a portion of cpu cycles.

Ollie joins the pack

by fasterlaster on Dec.27, 2009, under Laster Family

With the Laster pack down to one old, grumpy blind dog, the kids certainly had a legitimate gripe. It’s hard to play fetch with a blind dog. Steph and I spent some time looking at breeds that would be a good fit for our family. We settled on a possibility of a rat terrier (or rattie). There is a breeder (10 kitty farm) down south of Pueblo so we all loaded up and drove south the day after Christmas. We really weren’t sure about these dogs because of our lack of exposure to them. However once we got there that was shortlived, and we just fell in love with them. We spent a good amount of time deciding between “riley” and “rosalee”. Both had a great temperament with the kids, but the end decision was that rosalee liked to climb so we went with the more grounded “riley”. All the way home was spent brainstorming names, and in the end Oliver was decided on ( we call him Ollie).

Mtn Season started

by fasterlaster on Dec.22, 2009, under Laster Family

With SolVista opening this weekend we headed up to the high country for some time on the slopes. While most of the runs were not open this early, we did have some fun. Chloe started to learn how to ride, and Olivia can ski all by herself now.

Twins Birthday

by fasterlaster on Oct.16, 2009, under Laster Family

The twins turned 9 this year. Seems like a very long time since trying to learn how to change two diapers in record time. This year we had a party at the bowling alley, which was very cool. They each invited some of their friends and had a good day.

Steph and I celebrated 15 fun years together this past weekend. We were able to go to Walt Disney World for a few days, and Nana and Papa flew in to watch the kiddos. Here are some of the photos from the weekend.

by fasterlaster on Jul.25, 2009, under Laster Family

Another Magness Adventure Camp for young Cub Scouts has come and gone. I took Stryder the past few days and we had a fantastic time here. Lots of fun shooting BB guns, Bows & Arrows, as well as some cool tomahawks.
