Suburban nearly fixed

by fasterlaster on Jul.07, 2009, under Laster Family

I go to pick up that one odd expensive part from Chevy today. After that just a few more hoses and it’s cross your finger time. I’m hoping this new radiator and water pump will help to fix the over heating it’s been plagued with for years. Time will tell, but unfortunately it’s taken too long.

Wyatt’s home from Boy Scout camp

by Steph on Jul.04, 2009, under Laster Family, Scouting

Wyatt made it home today about lunch time from a week long stay at Peacefull Valley Boy Scout camp.  Jason and I wondered if we would get a 3 sentence explanation on how is week went.  Well we were wrong.  He couldn’t stop talking about it.  He had a fantastic time.  He earned 3 merit badges, and began working on a fourth.  The fourth one will take him a few months to complete the requirements.  Last night Stryder, Chloe, Olivia and I were able to go out to the camp for the Family Campfire Program. ( Jason had to work)  Since Wyatt didn’t attend last summer we didn’t know what to expect.  They fed us dinner, had a closing flag ceremony, and then the campfire program where the Scouts sang, and preformed skits.  It was so fun.  Wyatt was in a skit that was by far the funniest!  (Thanks to Wyatt.  He is such a clown)  He definately wants to attend next year.  That is always a good sign that he had a good time.  I took a few pictures.  Olivia sat with Wyatt and his Scout buddies during the campfire program, and she loved it!

Tigerbus Engine Lives again

by fasterlaster on Jun.18, 2009, under VW Bus

Well I got it all back together again. Seems to be running very well with no leaks this time. I found that it got a bit hot earlier today, but after checking the timing it seems about 4 degrees too far advanced. It’s still a 1776 (90.5mm x 69mm), and this time I bumped the compression from a lower 7.15 to a 8.25:1. We shall see how it does with this additional power and heat, but first impression is a very responsive engine.

TigerBus Engine

by fasterlaster on Jun.05, 2009, under VW Bus

A few weeks ago I pulled the engine in Tigerbus to fix a few leaks. Unfortunately once I pulled the engine and went to do a pre torque on the head studs, three pulled out. I finally have the case back from repair and hope to get this guy all put back together.

macirssi and timezone

by fasterlaster on Jun.05, 2009, under Geek

I do all my communications with irc at work, but unfortunately I’m in Mountain TZ and work references Pacific. I found that I could run /script exec $ENV{'TZ'}='PST8PDT'; and set the time to follow pacific, but every time I put it into an auto portion it just flaked out. Perl to the rescue. I wrote a two liner perl called timezone.pl in .irssi/scripts
$: cat ~/.irssi/scripts/timezone.pl
# timezone.pl - set the timzone for irssi.
use strict;
$ENV{'TZ'}='PST8PDT';

And put it in my .irssi/startup file
script load timezone

Now when I start macirssi, it changes my default timezone that macirssi uses.
